Design and Construction of Organic Food Waste Receiving and Pre-Processing Station and Digester #4
This project will include receiving and pre-processing equipment for organic food waste and modifications to the wastewater treatment facility. A new digester and an organic food waste pre-processing station will be built at the wastewater treatment facility to meet the increased capacity requirements to introduce food waste into the facility for solids digestion, with ultimate conversion of biogas to bio-methane and connection to the FortisBC grid.
Kanaka Bar Indian Band
Energy Self-Sufficient Affordable Housing Development – the Crossing Place
This project will incorporate renewable energy technologies consisting of solar ground units and rooftop and wind towers in the construction of a house and community re-development project in Lower Kanaka. This project will encourage regional residents to return to the traditional lands and is intended to offer Kanaka Bar and the region a sustainable energy supply for the proposed affordable housing project.
Canada Games Aquatic Centre Rehabilitation
This project will integrate energy efficient upgrades to the building envelope, mechanical and electrical systems in an existing recreation centre that is in need of improvements due to age. The centre represents a significant portion of the City’s greenhouse gas emissions. This project will provide the opportunity to reduce the energy use and increase overall building durability.
Lower Nicola Indian Band
Community Solar Gardens
This project will install solar photovoltaic panels on key First Nation community and residential buildings, including the arena, fire hall, health building, community centre, waterworks buildings, and social housing rental buildings. It will also lower energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions, create a more resilient and self-sufficient energy future for the First Nation, and further the path to reconciliation.
Nooklikonnic Creek Hydropower Project Development Plan
This project will build a run-of-the-river hydroelectric generating plant in the Nooklikonnik Creek, including road and penstock construction. The plant will connect to BC Hydro’s Bella Coola Non-Integrated Area, which is isolated from the nation-wide grid. The project will sell power to BC Hydro under an Electricity Purchase Agreement.
Aquatic Center Mechanical and Building Envelope Upgrade
This project will upgrade the mechanical system and include building envelope repairs to the aquatic centre. In addition to improving insulation and air-tightness, the project will incorporate renewable energy to make the aquatic facility highly energy efficient.
Fraser Valley Regional District
Fraser Valley Hope and Area Recreation Centre Geothermal Heat Recovery Project
This project will install a heat capture and storage system that will use the excess heat produced by the recreation centre’s refrigeration systems. A geothermal loop will be added to capture waste energy from ice making compressors to heat the buildings and pool. Ammonia and freon compressors will be upgraded to modular chillers that are safer and environmentally friendly. This project will increase the energy efficiency of the building.
Regional District of Nanaimo
Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Network for Mid-Vancouver Island
This project will install approximately 28 Level 2 EV charging stations across 12 local and regional governments. This expanded network will provide residents with clean transportation options, provide communities with tourism and local economic development opportunities, and contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
North Coast Regional District
ChargeNorth Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Network for North and Central BC
This project will install approximately 55 Level 2 EV chargers across approximately 25 communities located in 6 regional districts: North Coast, Kitimat-Stikine, Bulkley-Nechako, Fraser Fort George, Cariboo, and Thompson-Nicola. The new chargers will be connected to the existing EV network in the province, will increase access to clean energy transportation and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions through reductions in fossil fuel use.
Oval Village District Energy Utility Sewer Heat Recovery Energy System
This project will design and install a sewer heat recovery system for use as the main energy source for the Oval Village District Energy Utility, which is currently operating within Richmond. Replacing the current system’s natural gas boilers which provide the heating energy, with a sewer heat recovery system will result in greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
Sewage Heat Recovery Expansion Project for Vancouver False Creek Neighbourhood Energy Utility
This project will add additional new sewage heat recovery capacity to the system. The new equipment will be installed inside the existing False Creek Energy Centre.
